Thank you, and God you, and God bless America.

I defy you to find a recent convention speech with more personal pronouns.

Barack Obama's speech:

"This campaign has never been about me; it's about you."

John McCain's speech:

"This campaign has never been about you: It's about me."

Facists through the ages. (2.00 / 1)

It's all about them, always:

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on
a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of
it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people
don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in
Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the
country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to
drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist
dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no
voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked,
and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the
country to danger. It works the same in any country."

We have always been... (none / 0)

mere chess pieces on the board to them.

And always will be.

Expendable. Always.

They tried to fungible me to Viet Nam (2.00 / 1)

back in the sixties, but I outwitted them, thank jebus.
It's the same hegemonic cocksuckers now as then.  The cast members are interchangeable, but the script remains the same.

Of course, we marched and levitated the Pentagon and stuff back then.  Even inhaled tear gas every now and then.
Nowadays, we compose beautifully writen essays on blogs.  I guess you fight with the army you have instead of the one you wish you had.

Hmm (2.00 / 1)

I guess it's not a noun, a verb, and "POW.," it's "I," a verb, and "POW."

The pebbles have voted and the avalanche has begun.

Re: John McCain's Speech: It's About ME (none / 0)

Obama said I and me a LOT as well... They ran a clip of it on one of the talk shows recently..

This is what the pols do, they sell themselves to the American public.

I'm an honest person though, and both candidates talked about the country, the people, and themselves.

Maybe the convention overall was focused in a big way on McCain rather than policy, but McCains speech had many different focuses.

I really can't stand partisan bs like this, it just shows a lack of being honest to attack someone.  Politicians do it, but it doesn't mean we have to.

There is plenty to attack the other side with, but this stuff is just stupid.

I've watched both speeches repeatedly. (none / 0)

 There is simply no comparison.

First, stylistically, I think everyone can agree, even the most rabidly partisan -- McCain stank up the stage. SO, there's that.

But McCain's personal pronoun ration was baffling. If it had been a drinking game, I'd have been wasted within 5 minutes and dead by the end.

Honest to god, this was my first impression, true -- but after several repeat viewings, it got WORSE.

I am a rabid partisan, it is true; but I am also known among some pretty partisan REPUBLICAN observers as someone who will tell the truth when it counts -- when it HURTS... this was shockingly replete with personal pronouns.

As for analysis of policy and vision -- well, there are better people for that, and I think we've seen the results coming in -- it's not pretty.

Re: I've watched both speeches repeatedly. (none / 0)

Why not back it up with facts instead of writing a stupid post then..  Do a count on the two and compare it.

Show some actual analysis and intelligence.

All you ever do is post rants. You actually have been banned from DKos for not even following proper policy.  You never do research, not even on a sites policy..

You are the part of my party which I disrespect beause you somehow see yourself as fair by acting as though you 'tell the truth when it counts'! You should always tell the truth.. geez.

Sigh. (none / 0)

 Alright, dude.

I tried to have a conversation with you. You're not interested.

Incidentally -- that Dkos banning -- it was bogus. Check your facts.

Have a nice day.

And your keen insight and intelligent analysis is pretty on point, there, kiddo.

One good turn, and all that?

Re: John McCain's Speech: It's About ME (2.00 / 2)

Yeah.  Everyone seems to be soaring past the enormous cognitive dissonance involved in this speech and this campaign.  Country first?  Then why is he only compelling when talking about him self?  Why should anyone believe he is so selfless when he can only articulate it through a fixation on his autobiography?
